Love You, Mean It.

2012 was a whirlwind year: between graduating, moving, and starting my life in New York, I've covered a lot of ground. Here are some highlights from my first semester in the big city.

Seeing Stanley Tucci during Welcome Week

Embracing the steamy New York heat

Porgy and Bess with my mom on her first trip to visit me.

Best weekend of all time: my wonderful man in my wonderful city

Lemon ricotta pancakes at Locanda Verde

Feeling like a real NYC dancer

Voting in my first election

My hair growing into its next chapter

Brooklyn nights with my wonderful girlfriends

A fresh headshot for a fresh year

2013 is already packed with exciting things: auditions, visits from friends and loved ones, new challenges and opportunities... and hopefully a lot of fun.

Thanks so much for all the support for Tennyc in the past four months! I love being able to share my life with people who matter.

Happy and blessed New Year!
hugs.

Like No Business I Know

My sister continues to be the greatest and shot some new headshots for me yesterday! I have some auditions coming up in February and since I'm growing my hair out, I needed some new ones. I love them so much! Really big perk to have a professional photographer in the family.......

Thanks Katie Bug!!!

The Roster

Sorry for the lack of posting! I had a race to the finish with finals and then had to get settled back in Tennessee. Good to be home!!

1) My pup:

I don't know if you can tell, but my dog and I are a pair. She's literally followed me around since I got home on Saturday. So, I put this scarf on her.

2) Tree decorating with my mom:

Please enjoy my no make-up face presenting the work of a young savante. Otherwise known as my kindergarten tree ornaments.

My favorites: cupcakes and NYU (:

3) Baking:

Made some killer red velvet cupcakes yesterday. Recipe and pictures coming soon!

Evan and Zoey cleaned off the frosting bowl for me. Sharing is caring.

4) In case you missed one, here's a mashup of 50 pop hits from 2012:

IT'S ALMOST CHRISTMAS Y'ALL
hugs.

Perspective

I heard about the shooting in Connecticut today just as I was walking out of my last final of my first semester of college. The poignancy of timing isn't lost on me: just as I completed my first big hurdle of higher education, 20 little ones lost their chance to ever be where I am. When I think about all the children that have touched my life, especially with my first nephew on the way, it makes me shudder.

My heart goes out to all of the grieving families of Sandy Hook Elementary.

In the words of Judy Shepard, who also lost a son too soon: "Go home and hug your kids and don't let a day go by without telling them that you love them."

The Roster

I go home on Saturday! Wahoo Tennessee!

Until then....
1) GO WASHINGTON. But seriously, everybody else get on the train: it's fair, just, and occasionally fabulous.

2) This is getting me through my studio finals:

3) My sister continuing to be awesome:

She got the author to sign it and send it to me. So excited!!!

4) Inspirational (?) Alarms:

Getting out of bed has come to this y'all.

5) The Tisch Drama front desk getting into the holiday spirit:

I'm not sure what joy-puke is, but I'm excited for it.

6) Lea Michele And Darren Criss covering "Falling Slowly"
LET ME PREFACE. I saw Lea Michele in Spring Awakening and she was phenomenal  I think she is a total sell out now, but the fact remains, girlfriend can SANG. I like seeing her more unplugged like this.

Side note: Of course Darren Criss plays guitar too. Of course he does.

Some Nights

First, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAM I LOVE YOU AND YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL!
Okay now the real thing.

Disclaimer: I. Love. Brooklyn. I think everything in Brooklyn is great. I think that piles of trash in Brooklyn are fabulous. I think if I told Nidhi and Sam one more time "Guuuysss I have  to live here!" they would have rightly slapped me.

Anyway, we went to the Brooklyn Night Bazaar, which is essentially a giant warehouse filled with cool people and things that I wanted to buy. Lots of great art, clothes, jewelry, and food. And I ran into Ned! Good night for sure.

Happy Christmas in Brooklyn

happy pallets in Brooklyn

happy hippies in Brooklyn

pretty birthday lady in Brooklyn

artsy awesome construction in Brooklyn (I told you I'm obsessed)

In her natural habitat

You could play ping pong or soccer if ya fancied

Bloggers nom away.
BROOKLYN GIVE ME A BROWNSTONE.

Selfie Queen

So, I'm hoping ya'll are okay with instagrammed mirror selfies, because frankly that is all I have time for. I do not have the connections nor the hours to stage a photo shoot every day. Would if I could.

ON THAT NOTE.

I&W

I've been really into my Imogene and Willie jeans lately. I haven't worn them much because they were a pain to break in, but now that I have, I LOVE THEM.

Imogene and Willie jeans don't run cheap at all, but it is so worth it. Their selvedge denim is made the old fashioned way and the majority of their stock is made in store in Nashville. The quality really can't be beat. You know how when you get jeans that fit tight enough you can see the seams stretching? With like the white thread showing and you feel like a fat cow and like they're gonna rip? That happens to me all the time, even with my nice Paige jeans. But not with these. They're so sturdy and well made that they could survive just about anything and I still have the second skin fit that I love. It's also a plus that they'll do minor alterations, like hemming and taking in the leg, for free in the store. More bang for your buck. If you're in Nashville check out their store on 12 South!!

I love this pair because they have a very high flattering waist and a cropped length that fits great in boots.

{Top: etsy shredded tee, vintage scarf, Elizabeth and James jacket, vintage boots. Bottom: UO sweater, Steve Madden boots. Wearing the imogene slim black in both}
Hooray for local shopping!!
