The Roster

Y'all, it is GROSS in New York today. I'm having hot chocolate and popcorn for lunch.
Reminiscing over these moments to cheer me up!

1) Hot lady dates:

Grabbed a cupcake at Crumbs with Sam on Friday night before margaritas with friends. Don't worry, we split it.

Raspberry. so good.
2) All black always:

Felt especially chic going to an Oscar's dinner thing in Nolita with some ladies. Loving the scoop back.

{Zara scoop back tee, UO jeans, Steve Madden boots, Forever 21 and vintage necklaces}

4) Causing a scene:

So, I didn't actually enjoy this, but it's good for a laugh. Fire alarm went off in my dorm last night while I was in the shower. Ended up in the twenty-seven degree rain in shorts, slippers, my parka and a towel on my head. You're welcome.

 5) My best friend being the best:

I miss Zara Corzine.

6) In case you, like me, are often dismayed by magazine articles that categorize your "shape"and how to dress it, this article on Buzzfeed might help you out. (Shout out to Rachel for the link!)

Hugs.

Clever Oscars Title Here

It has arrived. The pinacle, the crest, the allegorical iceberg of fashion discussion:
and I have thoughts.

The Good:

Jennifer Lawrence
Oh my god I died. First, she announced that she was starving to Ryan Seacrest. A woman after my own heart. Then, she fell going up to accept her award and Bradley Cooper went to help her and it was like Cinderella and she draped diamonds down her back which pointed to her very real and very womanly butt and everything in me clapped and sang.

Charlize Theron
This is the best "Got Milk" ad of all time. Also, hair.

Jessica Chastain
THANK GOD. I was so worried she was going to go wacky. But I really love it. She is wearing a Spanx colored dress and selling the hell out of it..

Naomi Watts
I still haven't seen The Impossible, but if it is like this dress, I will love it.

The Not Quite:

Reese Witherspoon
I thought this looked better moving than in pictures. It's just kind of weird. Like they ran out of fabric so they duck taped her dress to her chest. It also makes her look much hippier than she is.

Jennifer Garner
So cute from the front. But when my friends and I were watching the red carpet and they showed the back shot I literally yelled "GUYS SHE FARTED A LOOFA."

Kelly Osbourne
She has had such a great black dress run that I really wanted her to hit it out of the park. But here I sit, eating a hot dog instead and watching my Instagram instead of the game.

Amy Adams
 1. This is too young for her. 2. It is not the right color for her. 3. It is too much dress for her. 4. It is still pretty.

Giuliana Rancic
This is my favorite of everything she's worn this season, but still. I really can't move past the skinny thing. She's a beautiful woman who has been through a lot and she deserves to take better care of herself.

The Ugly:
Amanda Seyfried
This is McQueen and it is cool in theory, but if you saw her in interviews her back was like BULGING over the top of that dress- and she is tiny. Like both her thighs together equals half of one of mine. Just because you can squeeze into does not mean it is the right size. Also, ew matching eye shadow to dress.

Zoe Saldana
This dress is the rejected stepsister of her 2010 Oscars dress.

Kristen Asshole Stewart
YOU ARE NOT TALENTED AND DON'T DESERVE TO STAND IN FRONT OF PEOPLE LIKE MERYL STREEP AND TONY KUSHNER AND QUENTIN TARANTINO AND PRETEND YOU'RE TOO COOL. I'm sorry, I really hate her. And her dress looks like mold. She is a fungus.

Melissa McCarthy
Lord knows my Nashville heart loves some big hair. But honey, no. For future guidance,  Octavia Spencer.

Salma Hayek
The off brand Latina Barbie doll I never had. Complete with fixed joints.

Anne Hathaway
I am happy she won. But I am so sad it was in this. It needs a wrist corsage. It is Julia Stiles in a 90's movie that isn't Ten Things I Hate About You. It is straight to dvd. It is strip mall. It is a Claire's choker. It is a lot of exaggerated nipple. I am sad.

The Roster

Loving this no school on Mondays thing!

1) The Brooklyn Promenade:

I had never been here before and my friend Sophie took me! So amazing. Hands down the best view of anything ever.

2) Weird art in Chelsea:

This dude is kind of creepy, but also kind of great.

3) Comfort food:

Finally made my mom's recipe for my all time favorite: chicken poppyseed casserole. Not as good as hers, but still makes me very very happy.

4) A plethora of Valentine's:

I also got a killer care package from my Mom, but I was so excited I forgot to take a picture!

5) The Beyonce documentary:

Y'all. It is so great. Hack a friend's HBOGO right now.

Hugs.

Southern Hospitality

I was in Charlotte a few weekends ago and Evan and I spent some time with his roommate, Holden. They did boy things but we did go mess around some of the Sumner's land and I got to take some pretty cool pictures. Thanks to the Sumners for a great meal and good time!!

Some Kind of Lovin'

First of all, happy birthday to my beautiful grandmother, Kathleen Horrell, who's 91 today. She has always been and always will be a beacon of love, support, and grace in my life and I feel so lucky to have such a close relationship with her. I wish I was home to celebrate!

I'm not much into Valentines Day myself, I think it's kind of a cop out. But it does give me an excuse to wear pink leopard and that's something I can get behind.

{vintage blazer, Target tank, Target belt, Tophop skinnies, vintage earrings}

Going to an event for One Billion Rising tonight with my roommate!! So excited to hear some great women speak.

Happy love day!

The Roster

Y'all, I am so tired. Please forgive the copious typos and grammatical errors this will probably have

Also, spoiler alert! Ana, don't read this if you want to keep your baby shower present a surprise!!

I'm awake to appreciate this stuff:

1) Spending some time with my man in North Carolina:

Have you ever seen a more handsome guy with a rifle? Look tomorrow for a post on my weekend trip!

2) Present for a future Mr. Horrell:

My sister in law, Ana, is pregnant with their first child and my first nephew!! The shower is on Saturday and I'm so sad I can't be there. I got great kids books from the Strand here in NY and sent them in my place. Doesn't Aunt Abby sound good?

3) Building tall enough to disappear into heavy clouds:

East 60th St.

4) In honor of fashion week, here's the 50 ugliest shoes in history

Sorry for the short post guys! More tomorrow!
hugs.

Grammys (ies?)

Alas, with the exception of a few, I was very underwhelmed by this whole thing. Nobody really excited me. And the Grammys (ies?) are supposed to excite.

My Pulse Begins to Quicken

I thought Rihanna looked INCREDIBLE on the carpet and onstage. Her abs and arms are ridiculous and her weave has never looked this real.

I'm not that into Heidi braids, but I appreciate her new tendency towards sex appeal. My boyfriends eyes about bugged out of his head.

OKAY. Anybody who missed her acceptance speech, go google it right now because it is adorable. I think I love this dress so much because it is exactly like something I would wear. Her earrings are also fun and quirky. I also think she was hands down the best performance of the night. Girl can blooowwww.

A State of Rest

I really do love Alexa Chung and her entire aesthetic and if I were able to attend my sister in laws baby shower this weekend, I would wear this dress. But not the the Grammys (ies? AH). She is also one of those frightfully frail women that I cannot support.

I HATE YOU CARLY. I HATE YOU AND YOUR SILLY SONG. Y'all, she is like 27 years old. But she doesn't look that bad, so I put her in the middle out of decency.

No matter how much skin you show you will still not be Beyonce.

I appreciate that she wore something so colorful and twee, it's a nice departure. But she needed a tough shoe to balance out all the bubblegum.

I Have Flatlined

Jenny, love you as I do. You are not Heidi Klum. Also, your head makes me hungry because your hair looks like a glazed doughnut hole.

If I held her next to an open flame, she would melt.

I ALMOST WEPT when I saw this. I think she has taken people salivating over her in the wrong way and now she is channeling a black and white cookie.

Style.com did not say who Kimbra here was wearing, but I am assuming it is Marchesa because reasons. The dress could almost be cool, but I cannot handle her power suit 80's hairdo and makeup.

Okay this just made me laugh. Look at the tiny little man next to Nicole Kidman!!!
