A Solstice of Sorts (a note on Summer)

Hey friends. So as I'm sure you've noticed, I've taken a break from posting over the past month. It wasn't a super intentional thing, but between the patchy internet at my house in Nashville and the general normalcy of my everyday, I decided to take this past month to enjoy time in my hometown and with my family.

But tomorrow I head back to New York to meet up with my man and start a new year and I'm sure I'll have lots to share.

Thanks for reading and for staying.
Until next time (which will be soon),
Abby.

The Roster

Hey y'all! Sorry this Roster is a day late. We had a birthday dinner for my brother and step-brother at my house last night, so I was busy all day with that. Better late than never.

1) Reaping the benefits of my fledgling bartender boyfriend:

2) The first big cake since my return from NYC:

3) Digging through family treasures with Honeymamma:

4) Sundays in the park with Zoey (and Evan):

5) I'm a very introverted person, which a lot of people don't believe because the majority of people don't understand what really distinguishes an extrovert from an introvert. This article from the Huffington Post explains it really well.

Happy rest of your week!

Old No. 7

I'm letting Evan guest blog for this post.  Because we love everything Tennessee and alcohol, a trip to the Jack Daniels Distillery has been in the works for a while. I didn't pay attention half the time because I was too busy photoging, so I'll let him explain stuff.

E: We had been talking about taking this trip for a couple months, and since it was such a nice day we took advantage of it.

Marble Jasper "Jack"

One of the characteristics of Jack that makes it a "Tennessee" whiskey as opposed to any other bourbon is a process called mellowing. The white lightning that comes off the stills is run through Sugar Maple charcoal to sweeten and "mellow" the raw liquor. Imagine that.

Jack Daniel's Distillery has been burning and using their own charcoal since the distillery opened in the late 19th century.

Jack's secret to good whiskey: Natural cave water filtered through limestone all the way from Canada.

"Jack on the Rocks"

Makin' friends as always

Not entirely sure how Jack gets away with producing such excellent alcohol in the only dry country in Tennessee. Props for completely taking advantage of the system.

A: I originally went along with this because I knew Evan was excited about it, but it was seriously one of the coolest things I've seen. Such a good day trip.

Sensuous Steel

Evan and I started checking things off our Nashville summer to do list this week, starting with the Sensuous Steel Art Deco Automobiles exhibit at the Frist.

If you're in Nashville, go check it out! If you buy stuff in the gift store you get free parking, and yes I understand how contradictory that is.

Happy Sunday!
