The Roster

My dad surprised me and came into town for 24 hours last night. He knew I had been getting kind of lonely in the city and it was definitely the pick me up I needed. I didn't want him to leave!!!!

1) Dinner at Locanda Verde (my favorite) and the pier in Tribeca. So freaking pretty.

I don't know what my hand is trying to do.

2) Pretty sunshine in the trees in Washington Square, dyeing everything green:

3) The vanilla bean banana french toast at The Smith:

It is as good as it looks.

4) Well loved ballet shoes that are way past their prime:

 5) "Ratchet" studios sign really living up to it's name:

Headed to rehearsal in a few hours!
Hope everybody is having a great week.
hugs.

Downtown Debutantes

Went to my friend Mark's housewarming apartment this weekend. He snatched up an incredible place on Orchard St. Top floor with a sky light. It was the real deal.

View of the Freedom Tower from the fire escape.

Queen of downtown.

Showing off.

Thanks for the good time, Mark!

Summer Lights

On my last night in Nashville, Evan and I went to the opening of Bruce Munro's exhibit, "Light", at Cheekwood, which Vogue just named one of the 31 best things to do this summer. We went right as the sun was setting, so we were able to see each piece in the light and the dark.

My camera and the fiber optics didn't agree sometimes, but I think the blurry ones are kind of cool!

To learn more about the exhibit, check out my sister's write up for Nashville Lifestyles (with much more professional pictures). If you're in the Nashville area, get your butt to Cheekwood!

The Roster- Nashville highlights

Sorry I haven't posted one of these in two weeks! My internet at home in TN is pretty slow so posting gets kind of difficult.

1) I missed Burger Up a lot.

2) Our trash man sometimes doesn't take our trash for really dumb reasons and leaves nasty notes telling us why.... So my dad left him one back.

3) Zara and I got our cartilage pierced. I tried to be all bad-ass and then I almost passed out while Ms. J. Crew over here was completely fine.

4) Popsicle date with my mom!:

5) Jessican Chastain matched her Spanx to her Givenchy:

And I think girlfriend deserves a medal.

Hope you're having a great week!

Blueberries and Cream

One of the things I miss the most when I'm in New York is baking. I don't have the supplies or the space, so I really try to take advantage of it when I'm home. My dad's secretary, Tina, has been a lifesaver to me this year (she singlehandedly got me on planes out of Hurricane Sandy and a blizzard), so I made her some blueberry cupcakes as a thank you!

I made my own blueberry buttercream instead of Martha's suggested whip cream topping. The whip cream would have been good, but definitely wouldn't have stood up to travel or early summer heat.

Kept some for me and my family, too.

Thanks, Tina!
